220px-Andrew_Sullivan_croppedAndrew Sullivan says, according to several reports, that his readers ponied up more than $100,000 Wednesday in the first six hours that he sold subscriptions to The Dish, the blog he is separating from The Daily Beast.

More power to him, I say. But at Time magazine offers perspective with which I agree.

For what it’s worth, one of the writers whose blog I would pay to read — and I wonder if he’s paying attention to Sullivan — is Charles Pierce and his Politics Blog at esquire.com. To my way of thinking, he is way more entertaining than Sullivan.

dishSo, I’m sitting here today just imagining how great Brome Hill could be. And more importantly, how RICH I could become.

I mean, if it works for Andrew Sullivan and The Dish, why wouldn’t it work here? A guy can hope, right?

If you don’t know, Sullivan is a British writer and blogger who is best known for The Dish, his blog that focuses on political issues.

With the tweet above, Sullivan announced today he would separate his blog from The Daily Beast, a bigger website that Sullivan has called his home since April 2011. He plans to sell access to The Dish for $19.99 annually. You may read more about it here.

I don’t think I’ll quit my day job. But I’ll gladly accept the $19.99 from anyone who wants to pay it for the privilege of stopping by here.
