Happiness in intelligent people is the rarest thing I know.
Ernest Hemingway (1899 – 1961)
New Year’s resolutions don’t work.
And yet it’s hard not to try them, so I am looking ahead to 2010. It can’t help but be a better year for the many Americans who struggled in 2009. I am grateful for the many things I have — friends and family who love me, a pretty good job at a time of high unemployment, a roof over my head and a warm bed in which to sleep at night. But there are parts of my life that still seem out-of-sync.
In 2010, I want to develop a better relationship with God, and I will become the happier, healthier and thinner person I know I am meant to be.
I do not consider myself to be the most intelligent guy on the block, but my New Year’s resolution is to prove Hemingway was wrong.
