Congressional candidate coming to Muscatine

MUSCATINE, Iowa — John Archer, a lawyer in Bettendorf, is bringing his Republican campaign for Iowa’s 2nd Congressional District seat, to Muscatine.  He will hold a meet-and-greet session from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Button Factory Woodfire Grille, 215 W. Mississippi Drive.

Archer, senior legal counsel at Deere & Co., is running in the June primary against fellow Republicans Dan Dolan of Muscatine and Richard Gates of Keokuk. The winner will run in the November general election against incumbent Rep. Dave Loebsack, a Democrat.

Note: Marilyn Wedel of Muscatine says Richard Gates has dropped out of the race. I didn’t confirm this, but Marilyn knows more about eastern Iowa Republican politics than I ever will.
