MUSCATINE, Iowa — John Archer, a lawyer in Bettendorf, is bringing his Republican campaign for Iowa’s 2nd Congressional District seat, to Muscatine. He will hold a meet-and-greet session from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Button Factory Woodfire Grille, 215 W. Mississippi Drive.
Archer, senior legal counsel at Deere & Co., is running in the June primary against fellow Republican
s Dan Dolan of Muscatine and Richard Gates of Keokuk. The winner will run in the November general election against incumbent Rep. Dave Loebsack, a Democrat.
Note: Marilyn Wedel of Muscatine says Richard Gates has dropped out of the race. I didn’t confirm this, but Marilyn knows more about eastern Iowa Republican politics than I ever will.
