Muscatine hotel sold for $1.3 million

MUSCATINE, Iowa — The Super 8 hotel at 2900 N. U.S. Highway 61 has been sold for $1.3 million.

Supertel Hospitality Inc. a real estate investment trust based in Norfolk, Neb., bought the hotel on March 27  from Humphrey Hospitality Limited Partnership of Norfolk, Neb.  The seller, according to Muscatine County records, bought the hotel in 1999 from Supertel, which owns 98 hotels in 23 states.

The hotel no longer met its former owners’ investment criteria primarily due to size and age, according to Supertel.

It could not be immediately confirmed today if the new owners will continue to operate the hotel as a Super 8.

Supertel primarily operates hotels that do not offer food and beverage service. It owns and operates hotels as  Baymont Inns, Comfort Inns/Comfort Suites, Days Inns, Guest House Inns, Hampton Inns, Holiday Inn Express, Key West Inns, Masters Inns, Quality Inns, Ramada Limited, Savannah Suites, Sleep Inns, Super 8s and Supertel Inns.
