My dad, Tom Steinbach, offered a lot of great advice in his own low-key way.
As a kid, one of my many jobs was to poke the cattle we branded and vaccinated down a narrow alley into a head chute. I can remember Dad telling me: When you think you’re going to get kicked by a steer, lean into him. It will hurt less.
That’s proven to be pretty good advice about life in general as I’ve gotten older. Makes me wonder how a guy my brothers and I teased about being dumb could have been so smart.
