In an interview today on National Public Radio, writer Elizabeth Gilbert offered up some much-needed inspiration.
“I think the angels reward people who are at their desks working at 6:00 in the morning,” Gilbert, author of Eat, Pray, Love, said of her writing process.
That was good to hear. Lately, I’ve been using Brome Hill as a way to tell little stories and maintain the writing muscles I’ve been working for a long time to develop.
But I’m also trying to use this blog to build some new muscle and discipline. I want it to be a way to write 350 to 500 words a day. Every day. In addition to working full time and everything else that fills up a day.
I usually write these posts later in the evening or really early in the morning. If I can get to where I can do it every day, I’ll be writing the equivalent of a page a day. And after 365 days, I should have at least the first draft of a book.
Here’s to hoping the angels find me.
