How about a couple of Quick Hits this morning?

Enough already: My guess is many of the people who are upset by jokes about Dick Cheney’s heart transplant (comedian Argus Hamilton: At Dick Cheney’s insistence, his new heart is equipped with the world’s only gasoline-powered pacemaker.) are some of the same people who laughed at this.

It’s to be expected, I guess. But two wrongs don’t make a right and maybe we all should be a little more careful about what we say and how we say it.

Maddening: After reading a ton of stuff already today about the fifth-season premiere of the TV show “Mad Men,” it feels as if I am the only person in America who just doesn’t get it.

I’ve been a periodic viewer of the AMC series and I watched most of it Sunday night. I like it. But I just can’t work up the passion about it that everyone else seems to have.

Today’s quote: All fantasy should have a solid base in reality. — Max Beerbohm, English actor. (1872-1956)

Just an update: Today marks the one-month period of my unemployment. All I can say is what a long, strange trip it’s been. And all I can do is keep truckin’ ahead. This is a trip I don’t want to last too long.

For any potential employers who might read this, what is more important to me than anything else is having a purpose and workplace where I can go every day and channel my energy, passion and commitment. I’ll be glad to have that back in my life as soon as possible.

And with that, I’m off to the gym for a couple of hours. Have a good day, everyone.
