I’ll have more to say about this later, but it’s too good not to share NOW so I cut my lunch break a little short.
On Jan. 17, I’ll join some of my colleagues from MCSA to accept a nice donation from the employees in the corporate offices of HNI Corp. at 408 E. Second St. in Muscatine. The employees held several events in 2012 in order to raise money for the shelter. I’m not sure yet how much they raised and will donate, but I’ve been told the company is matching the donation.
It’s very exciting.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with HNI and won’t take the time to click on the link above, it is the world’s second-largest office furniture manufacturer and the nation’s leading manufacturer and marketer of gas- and wood-burning fireplaces. The company was founded in Muscatine in 1944 by C. Maxwell Stanley, Clem Hanson and H. Wood Miller.
More good news: If you can, make plans to attend a pancake and sausage breakfast fundraiser for the Kids First Fund in Muscatine. It will be held from 7-9 a.m. Friday in the Walnut Room at First National Bank. It’s a worthy cause and the food is always good.

Should have known better: But it appears he didn’t and now ’80s pop star Richard Marx looks kind of silly in this interesting yarn.
