I’m running a little behind, but wanted to post something here today, so … how about we share some of the nonsense from my Facebook page?
Let’s start in the world of books. I don’t get the hoopla surrounding “Fifty Shades of Gray.” Maybe my opinion would change if I actually read the books. Unfortunately, my taste in reading runs more toward crime/legal thrillers. At the moment, I am reading John Lescroart‘s “The Hearing.”
Lescroart has been at it for a long time, but I didn’t start reading him until this year. I’ve become a real fan.
Quote of the Day: “Men succeed when they realize that their failures are the preparation for their victories.” — Ralph Waldo Emerson.
Marathon man: In the political media, Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wis., the GOP vice presidential nominee, dominated headlines over the weekend. I’m not sure how big of a deal this really is since it would be nearly impossible to find a 40-something-year-old man anywhere who hasn’t exaggerated his past athletic accomplishments.
Best line I’ve read on the subject comes from Roger Simon of Politico via Twitter: Any man who would fib about his marathon time would fib about his golf handicap. GOP takes latter very seriously.
Mid-day addition: I saw elsewhere on the Web today that the Black Keys have finally released a video for “Little Black Submarines” off their “El Camino” album. The album and song are both great. Worth a listen if you like rock music and have never heard it.
