Why am I doing this?

A few days ago a friend on Facebook posted a link to this article.  The fact that I have to do a lot of this every day at work has not discouraged me from wanting to do more here. In fact, I like the idea of writing an extra 500 words here each day, which is a pretty lofty goal.

But I also read this blog every day. I admire the way she knocks out 500 or more words almost every day. And I’m downright envious of the community she has developed with her readers and commenters.

I’d like to have that here. There is much I’d often like to write and comment on that doesn’t really fit in with what I do at my full-time job. And I’m kind of bored with Facebook. So, what the heck, I’ll plug away here.
