National Public Radio reported this morning that Terry Jones, the Florida pastor who plans to hold a Quran-burning rally on Saturday’s 9/11 anniversary, says he may reconsider if he is contacted personally by the White House, the Pentagon or the State Department.
First off, let me say this: Jones is a nut, but he has a right in the United States of America to burn Qurans no matter how distasteful it may be or what happens as a result of his actions.
I hope he does not follow through with his plans.
What really gets me, though, is the ego of this so-called minister. This is all about calling attention to himself — and it has worked. He has been condemned by everyone from Angelina Jolie to Glenn Beck. And when was the last time they agreed on anything?
But then he takes it a step further and says: I won’t follow through if the White House calls me. Way to really live your faith.
Practically every leader in the free world has been quoted as saying Jones should back down. But that’s not enough for Terry Jones. It’s almost enough to make me wish God would personally contact him and smite him with a massive heart attack.
I wonder if Terry Jones would hear that message.

A massive heart attack? Sure, but while we’re invoking divine intervention, why not pray for such a change of heart for Pastor Terry that he repents of hate and then embraces enemies? If it’s all the same to God, I mean.
I was just checking to see if you were paying attention out there, Dan.
